New Consensus with Small-Scale Food Producers

The New Consensus with Small-Scale Food Producers is a collaboratively developed call to action which highlights the critical role small-scale food producers play in global food systems identifies their most pressing challenges and calls on policymakers to ensure that small-scale food producers are prioritized and involved in the process of developing agricultural policies and programs.

In the current context of the compounding crises of conflict, COVID-19, climate change, and economic downturns, the consensus recognizes the unique potential of small-scale food producers to ensure local and regional food and nutrition security. Small-scale food producers help diversify food production and diets, protect agrobiodiversity, maintain and improve soil health, and sustain local markets. Their relative size and proximity put them in a unique position to exponentially increase the impact of agricultural development, building resilience and improving income and health outcomes for people and the planet.

The Global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

The Global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence against women is an international campaign originating from the first Women’s Global Leadership Institute in 1991. “The Global 16 Days Campaign,” as it has become known, was launched and continues to be coordinated by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership.

The dates for the campaign were chosen to link violence against women and human rights and emphasize that gender-based violence against women is a violation of human rights: since 1991, the campaign has been active between November 25, the International Day Against Violence Against Women, and December 10, International Human Rights Day.

The Global 16 Days Campaign is an organizing strategy for individuals and groups around the world to call for the elimination of all forms of gender-based violence against women and to:

-raise awareness about gender-based violence against women as a human rights issue at the local, national, regional, and international levels

-strengthen local work around gender-based violence against women

-establish a clear link between local and international work to end gender-based violence against women

-provide a forum in which organizers can develop and share new and effective strategies

-demonstrate the solidarity of women around the world organizing against gender-based violence against women

-create tools to pressure governments to implement commitments to eliminate gender-based violence against women

-World Accord joins over 6000+  organizations in approximately 187 countries in participating in the Global 16 Days Campaign.
