Join Us on a Learning Trip!
Connect, learn, and advocate with World Accord’s partners abroad

Join us for an unforgettable journey with World Accord’s Learning Trip
Our first Learning Trip will take place from August 20 to 30, 2026 in Honduras. This trip marks the beginning of an annual experience, offering a small group of Canadians the chance to immerse themselves in the vibrant communities where World Accord’s partners are making a difference.
What Is a Learning Trip?
A Learning Trip is more than just travel; it’s a deep dive into locally led development and the incredible work being done by World Accord’s partners. During your time abroad, you’ll visit communities involved in World Accord-supported projects, witness grassroots change, and experience the impact of our collaborative approach to development.
Learning Trips are designed to:
Introduce you to the World Accord philosophy and the local partner’s work
Build meaningful relationships with local communities
Help you understand the challenges and successes faced by these communities
Explore themes like global poverty, food security, women’s empowerment, and the climate crisis
Equip you to bring these lessons home and share them with other Canadians
This experience is perfect for anyone interested in learning, personal growth, and becoming a stronger advocate for sustainable change.

Who Can Participate?
The Learning Trip is open to Canadian citizens or permanent residents aged 18 and older. We aim to bring together a diverse group of 8 to 12 participants. We are also reserving two spots specifically for youth between 18 and 30, to encourage emerging leaders to engage with this vital work.
Expenses and Fundraising
The trip cost is $600, which covers meals and beverages, local transportation, and lodging. Participants are also expected to raise an additional $5,000 in charitable funds that directly support World Accord’s partners and their projects. This fundraising goal can be split into two parts: $2,500 before departure and $2,500 within one year of returning. All funds raised are eligible for charitable tax receipts.
*Participants are responsible for personal expenses, including round-trip flights, travel medical insurance, trip cancellation insurance, vaccinations, passport fees, transportation to the departure airport, and any personal spending money.
Before and After the Trip
Before departure, participants will take part in approximately ten hours of orientation and learning sessions. These sessions will build your understanding of the region, the partner’s projects, and the social and environmental context of your destination. We’ll also cover roles and responsibilities, insurance, and important travel information, including the need for a valid passport with at least two blank visa pages and six months’ validity beyond your return date.
After returning home, participants will be asked to serve as World Accord Ambassadors for at least 12 months. This includes sharing your experiences with your local community, giving presentations, engaging on social media, and supporting advocacy initiatives. This is an essential part of ensuring that the impact of your trip continues to grow.
