Digging out the streets of Tecpan

It must have been a raging river through here to deposit this much earth. Lucky the entire town was not swept away. Well not all luck. Solid homes and well made infrastructure helps to minimize the losses in natural disasters.

How much water would have to flow through here to deposit rocks of this size in the middle of the road. Some homes – more poorly constructed ones – did get washed away.

Hermalinda from Women in Action (Mujeres en Accion) walks through what use to be a flat street. It is a miracle more people were not killed in this town.
